Happy Halloween! Granted, it's not until Friday, but given that we don't have class on Friday, let's make tonight's workout a blast - come dressed for the holiday! Who's in?! Be bold! Spruce up your workout outfit with a little Halloween flavor - let's get a sweet group photo!

Check out Halloween of 2013!

Split Jerk
2-2-2-2-2

Take each set (not each rep) from the rack and lower each rep to the shoulders, dipping with the legs to absorb the bar's momentum.  Re-rack after each set (except for the last set, after which you should - of course - drop the bar in celebration).

Monday 09/08/14

Announcement: Due to scheduling difficulties (including two of our coaches being in Kansas City for a weightlifting meet!), this Saturday's (09/13/14) class will start one hour earlier than usual. This means that class will be at 7:00 a.m. instead of the usual 8:00 a.m., and BBG will not take place that day. Class will start that day in the old gym . . . but who knows where it will go from there?! Show up and find out!

Announcement: Due to scheduling difficulties (including two of our coaches being in Kansas City for a weightlifting meet!), next Saturday's (09/13/14) class will start one hour earlier than usual. This means that class will be at 7:00 a.m. instead of the usual 8:00 a.m. (it is uncertain at this time whether or not BBG will take place on Saturday - please keep checking the blog to stay up to date on developments). Who's going to show up early and train hard?! Bring it!

6 cycles of:
1. Handstand/handstand walk
2. Kipping pull-up/CTB pull-up/bar muscle-up

Saturday 08/16/14

BBG (off)
OHS
3-3-3-3

Front Squat
2 x 5, 1 x 5+

Every 30 seconds for 10 minutes, perform 1 round of the barbell Bear Complex:
1 Power Clean
1 Front Squat
1 Push Press/Jerk
1 Back Squat
1 Push Press/Jerk from behind the neck

Go heavy, but also remember that the goal is to complete 1 round every 30 seconds for the whole 10 minutes. Your score is recorded as "X/Y," where X = # of rounds completed every 30 seconds and Y = # of rounds completed for the remainder of the 10 minute period.

Two other notes:
  1. For a round to be successful, once the barbell leaves the deck for the power clean, it may not return to the deck until the end of the round.
  2. Be sure to stand up fully from the power clean before beginning your front squat.

Finale - 3 options:
  1. Accumulate 1:00 in a handstand - free-standing or against a wall, but if against a wall, you must wall walk into the handstand.  Choose option 1 if you cannot get completely vertical - you'll accumulate 1:00 in an angled wall walk position.
  2. 3 ME (Max Effort) handstand holds (free-standing)
  3. 3 ME (Max Effort) handstand walks (for distance)

Thrusters . . . so much fun!

Saturday 08/09/14

2. Double-unders/Triple-unders
3. L-sit

Push Jerk

"Fran Gots Hops"
21-15-9 reps for time of:
Box Jumps, 30"/24"
Pull-ups

There is a 6:00 cap on this workout, so scale accordingly. For the pull-ups, you want to get that first set of 21 pull-ups unbroken, so choose your scaling with that in mind. At 2:00 after the cap, we will start the following:

3 rounds for time of:
5 Burpees
10 TTB
10/30/50 Double-unders

5:00 cap. For your double-unders, choose either 10 reps, 30 reps, or 50 reps - you will perform that number of reps each round (for respective totals of 30, 90, or 150 double-unders total). To be eligible for the 30 or 50 rep option, you should be able to get either 15 or 25 double-unders unbroken, respectively.

Finale: 50 push-ups/dips/ring dips in as few sets as possible (max of 5 sets). In between sets, mob your hamstrings with either a lacrosse ball or a barbell.
