Upcoming Event - The Blarney Stone 5K!!!

On Thursday, March 17th at 6:00 p.m., Peak Performance is having their annual St. Patrick's Day "Blarney Stone 5K" race.  This was a Testify off-site event last year, and we're looking to make it an annual event - it's a lot of fun, so whether you are an experienced runner or a first-time racer, come on out and join us.  We will not be having class that evening, so this is a great opportunity to show off some of your hard work.

Registrations received before midnight on Wednesday, 03/09/11, will cost $30. After that, the price goes up to $35 from 03/10/11 to 03/16/11, and then the price is $40 on race day, so get your registration in early (see below for the registration link).  Also, the first 750 people to register before 03/09/11 will get a Blarney Stone 5K pint glass!  The post-race party is immediately after the race - pizza and beverages will be provided (this is why half of us run this race anyway!).

This year's race will be held at River City Star (151 Freedom Drive Rd) in downtown Omaha.  You can get more race details at u2canrun.org, and you can register online here.

Hesitating?  Don't.  This is a great chance to compete in something (and it's still fun!), and competition motivates like nothing else.

Sweet!!! Of course I'm excited!

If any of you are hesitant, or a bit intimidated by the sound of a 5k, don't be. I can almost guarantee if you can get through a tough TSC workout, you will have no problems getting through a 3.1 mile run/jog! If it is your first distance race, don't be concerned with your time, aim to finish strong!

Hope to see many more of you guys there this year!

5k I'm in. Runs are fun. I've never run with a group, because most are too slow. I'd like to try to run with some peeps. I believe Tee Jay and others might outpace me, speaking of intimidation ie. someone's specialty, but I would give it my all. 5k is short :) Not sure if long enough to burn off pizza and beer, but definitely less guilt at the end. Beer and Bagel was fun. Let me know about any off course runs. My legs were burning on that 4 mile run. Felt great!

Had a busy weekend, couldn't make it to TSC last night, but plan on getting back on track Thursday night.

Signed up for Blarney Stone today... last year's time to beat is 24.10. Gotta start looking for some props to run in!
