Monday 02/21/11

As we discussed in class, please post to comments by 9:00 p.m. the night before class if you plan to attend a Monday or Wednesday morning class.  Simply post to the comments of the most recent TSC post - it does not need to be Monday's or Wednesday's post (this is especially relevant since they generally don't post to the site until 9:00 p.m.).  We will get a notification email no matter where you post your comment, and if even one person plans on attending, we will have class (after all, we want to have class!).

This is hopefully only a temporary procedure, but since we have had a few morning classes with no one in attendance, and since all 3 coaches have full-time jobs as well, we want to make sure that everyone's time is used prudently.

Also, don't forget - the Blarney Stone 5K is coming up on March 17th!  This will be a TSC off-site event (and we won't have regular class that night), so click here for more information and to register.

Check out the two videos below.  This is Courtney - she's 5'2", 125 lbs., and she deadlift 332 lbs.  And she wants to deadlift and squat even more.  Women are sometimes concerned that if they get strong, they will also get big.  Hopefully these videos will help alleviate that concern. (On the science side of things, gaining muscle mass has to do largely with testosterone levels, and women have about 10% the testosterone that men have . . . so no worries.)


The sled and friend combined total about 290 lbs.


This is a 328 lb. deadlift. Yes, there is some hitching, but give
credit where credit is due - this is pretty stinkin' sweet.

Pushed myself to grab 30# DBs instead of 20's or 25's. Took me a bit longer, but not going to get stronger grabbing 20's every time...
